Cicely Belle Blain and Jillian Christmas: League of Canadian Poet Award finalists
Two debut poetry collections - Cicely Belle Blain's Burning Sugar and Jillian Christmas' The Gospel of Breaking - are finalists for the 2021 League of Canadian Poet Awards.
Cicely's book, published under Vivek Shraya's VS. Books imprint, is a finalist for the Pat Lowther Memorial Award, awarded annually since 1981 for a book of poetry by a Canadian woman published in the preceding year.
Jillian's book is also a finalist for the Pat Lowther Memorial Award, as well as for the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award, which recognizes a first book of poetry published by a Canadian writer in the preceding year.
