Three BC Book Prize nominations


The 2019 BC Book Prizes shortlists have been announced, and this year's finalists include our own Amber Dawn's Sodom Road Exit, Lindsay Wong's The Woo-Woo, and Eve Lazarus' Murder by Milkshake!

Amber Dawn's novel Sodom Road Exit is shortlisted for the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize; Sodom Road is also a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award, and Amber Dawn was previously shortlisted for the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize for Where the words end and my body begins. Lindsay Wong's memoir The Woo-Woo: How I Survived Drugs, Ice Hockey, Ghosts, and My Crazy Chinese Family is named in the Hubert Evans Nonfiction Prize category; The Woo-Woo was also shortlisted for the Hilary Weston Writers' Trust of Canada Nonfiction Prize and was a finalist in CBC's 2019 Canada Reads competition. Eve Lazarus' true-crime nonfiction book Murder by Milkshake: An Astonishing True Tale of Adultery, Arsenic, and a Charismatic Killer is a finalist for the Bill Duthie Booksellers' Choice Award; her book Cold Case Vancouver was shortlisted for the same award.
