Jonny Appleseed and Little Fish: Amazon Canada First Novel finalists
We're thrilled that two Arsenal titles, Jonny Appleseed by Joshua Whitehead and Little Fish by Casey Plett, have been named finalists for the $60,000 Amazon Canada First Novel Award, co-presented by The Walrus!
Both books have already received a lot of awards love: Jonny Appleseed was shortlisted for the Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction and longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, and is a current finalist for the George Bugnet Award for Fiction (Alberta Literary Awards), the Carol Shields Winnipeg Book Award, and a Lambda Literary Award. Little Fish is also shortlisted for the Carol Shields Winnipeg Book Award and a Lambda Literary Award. Both novels were named among the best books of 2018 by The Globe and Mail.
Also shortlisted for the Amazon Canada First Novel Award are The Amateurs by Liz Farmer (Knopf Canada), Searching for Terry Punchout by Tyler Hellard (Invisible Publishing), Split Tooth by Tanya Tagaq (Viking Canada), and Reproduction by Ian Williams (Penguin Random House Canada).
The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Toronto on May 22. In addition to the $60,000 winning prize, all finalists receive $6,000.
