A. Light Zachary is the winner of the 2024 Trillium Book Award for Poetry for their debut collection, More Sure.

The award, which includes a $10,000 cash prize, was presented at a ceremony in Toronto on June 20.

More Sure has already received accolades, including the American Library Association's Stonewall Honor Book citation, and a nomination for the League of Canadian Poets' Gerald Lampert Memorial Award.

Of the book, Kai Cheng Thom wrote: "A. Light Zachary alchemizes a philosopher's intellect with the soul of a poet. Weaving deftly through classic texts and pop culture references, from sharply political to deeply personal, More Sure is a haunting love song to those who live in the shadows. Zachary is a master of their craft and a virtuoso talent, and they balance acute emotion with subtle wit. These are poems that will make you think and feel for a long time."

Congratulations to Light as well as Nina Dunic, author of the Trillium Book Award for the novel The Clarion (Invisible Publishing)!
