The Calgary Herald interviews musician and artist Rae Spoon about their latest book, the young-adult novel Green Glass Ghosts.

Green Glass Ghosts tells the story of a young non-binary person newly arrived in Vancouver, armed with only their guitar and their voice. With honesty and openness, they attempt to forge a new life - and a new chosen community - for themselves in the big city. The book is complemented by moody illustrations by Vancouver artist Gem Hall.

"There’s not a coming-of-age book for trans, non-binary youth that exists that is quite like this book I wrote,” says Spoon, who also talks about their serious health challenges over the past year.
