Larissa Lai's The Tiger Flu and Joshua Whitehead's Jonny Appleseed are finalists for this year's Alberta Literary Awards.

Larissa's feminist sci-fi novel is shortlisted for the City of Calgary W.O. Mitchell Book Prize alongside Marcello Di Cintio's Pay No Heed to the Rockets: Palestine in the Present Tense (Goose Lane Editions) and David Martin's Tar Swan (NeWest Press). The Tiger Flu is also shortlisted for a Lambda Literary Award and was named to the James Tiptree Jr. Honor List. For more information, click here.

Joshua's novel about a Two-Spirit Indigiqueer young man is a finalist for the Georges Bugnet Award for Fiction alongside Fran Kimmel's No Good Asking, (ECW Press) and Clem Martini'sThe Comedian (University of Calgary Press). Jonny Appleseed was also shortlisted for the Governor General's Literary Award and a Lambda Literary Award and longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. For more information, click here.
