Casey Plett and Joshua Whitehead are Carol Shields Winnipeg Book Award finalists

Casey Plett's Little Fish and Joshua Whitehead's Jonny Appleseed have both been named finalists for the Carol Shields Winnipeg Book Award, part of the Manitoba Book Awards..

Both books have already won wide acclaim and awards attention. Little Fish is a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award in the US in the category of transgender fiction; Jonny Appleseed is also a Lambda Literary Award finalist in the category of gay fiction, and was also shortlisted for the Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction and longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. It is also a finalist for the Georges Bugnet Award for Fiction (part of the Alberta Book Awards).
